Camp Hill
Camp Hill 4152
Camp Hill was thought to be named by “teamsters” who camped on the hill at a waterhole near Whites Hill in the suburb’s south while stopping over on their way to the coastline. Located just six kilometres southeast of Brisbane’s CBD, it is one of Brisbane’s most highly sought-after suburbs for family living, young professionals and retirees alike with its abundance of nature reserves and parks, which is a rarity for a suburb so central. With its city or mountain views, large blocks, quiet settings, the traditional elegant "Queenslander" are the favourite home of choice, standing proud throughout the suburb alongside colonials and post-war cottages offering something for everyone.
As illustrated, the White’s Hill Public Reserve (purchased in 1873 by the White Family presents over 50 acres on high land) is just one of the many parks which features sporting fields, a playground, BBQ facilities, picnic areas and bushwalking trails. Perth St Park and Lavarack Park are other local favourites.
Spoilt for choice with its buzzy vibe, convenient location, community spirit, parklands, well-serviced public transport system, coupled with its large leafy streets, the short 2-5min by car or walk to some of the best eating spots in Brisbane adds to the overall charm and uniqueness that the neighbourhood and lifestyle. It is not hard to see why people fall in love with the suburb, or why people who grow up in Camp Hill, tend to find their way back.
