There are certain things in life that one can’t prepare for, such as the moment a parent is told their newborn has been diagnosed with congenital heart disease.
Suddenly a momentous occasion quickly turns to sadness and things change in a heartbeat. HeartKids is there for those going through this life changing journey.
Our community partner recently celebrated Sweetheart Day their annual awareness and community fundraising day on the 14th February which also happens to be International Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Day. HeartKids “Things can change in a heartbeat” campaign focused on the moment when many of those in their communities’ hopes and dreams changed to drive awareness of the impact that CHD has on families.
“For Sweetheart Day and the whole month of February, we would like to thank all our families and friends who held fundraisers for HeartKids, sold bracelets on our behalf, or purchased merchandise, we cannot do what we do without your support. We also held our very first Giving Day on Monday 14th February and we were blown away by the success of this day, we cannot thank our Matched Giving Partners including Abode property group enough for their generosity and we are extremely grateful for every donation we received on the day. Thank you to all the amazing people that answered our calls, responded to our emails and text messages. Seeing our community rally together in the spirit of Sweetheart Day was truly inspiring – and such an overwhelming response and fundraising result.” – Holly, Queensland State Manager.
